Fighting global warming

The world’s largest companies taking climate action with the help of Climate Impact Partners

Tuesday, December 5, 2023

I recently translated into French a very inspiring article for the News section of Climate Impact Partners’ website. This organisation helps companies reduce their carbon footprint, offering them to finance projects for climate action.

This article was dedicated to the impact the Fortune Global 500 companies would have on global warming if they invested only a few of their profits in climate action.

Illustrated with several convincing charts, Climate Impact Partners explains that if the 500 world’s largest companies committed just 1.5% of their profits to climate actions, we could limit to 1.5°C global warming at the global scale. In comparison, the article points that big companies allocate in average 12% of their profits to research and development (R&D) each year.

To help them move forward, the organisation offers companies to invest in projects for climate action. Climate Impact Partners has defined four main lines of action: solar systems, afforestation/reforestation, forest and biodiversity conservation as well as improving health and livelihoods of the most vulnerable populations.
